Iron Sharpens Iron
Proverbs 27:17
February 5, 2026
You become who you surround yourself with. Build community with people who push you toward God.
"As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another." — Proverbs 27:17
This verse has become a cliché, but its truth remains urgent: you become who you spend time with.
If you want to grow in faith, surround yourself with people who are growing in faith. If you want to grow in discipline, find people who are disciplined. If you want to walk boldly for God, walk with people who are already doing it.
**Community Is Not Optional** The Christian life was never designed to be lived alone. The early church gathered daily (Acts 2:46). Paul had Timothy. David had Jonathan. Jesus Himself had twelve.
The question isn't whether you need community — you do. The question is whether you're investing in the right ones.
Find your people. Be iron for someone else. Sharpen and be sharpened.
